John Shoemaker: Song Samples

Obstacles

(John Shoemaker)
I had a period of time where life changing revelations seemed to be a daily occurance. I was opening up to the very idea of a completely new reality seperate from the popular culture standard. I would sit by the fire in the little 1800's farmhouse I rented, read fascinating books by people like Michio Kushi and Neale Donald Walsch, and become inspired over and over again to create my life anew. This is one of the many songs written as my mind and heart were opening for what seemed like the first time.

Lyrics:

Searching for an ancient path virtually unknown
Intuitive memories older than the stone
We lost our way a long time ago

I take this grain from the harvested field and hold it in my hand
I add water, fire and salt to the staff of life for man
It helps me grow and understand

These beautiful words that all the prophets say
Eternal words of truth so relevant today
Jesus and Lau Tzu, and the unknown sage

Chorus:
But sometimes I feel like I’m the last man on this earth who believes
Sometimes I feel so alone
Obstacles won’t stop me (repeat)

From searching for an ancient path – come walk with me
Break off those chains of spiritual slavery
You were born to live and grow until you’re free
To find heaven on earth – that’s our destiny

(Repeat chorus to end)
